Is Tinder Gold/Platinum worth it?

Note from author: What’s up G. Just a quick note letting you know that this was handwritten by me. Couldn’t find a single non-AI slop post on Google so just wanted to let you know, whether you like this piece or hate it, it’s on me, a human haha. Enjoy!

I was curious to see if it’s worth paying for dating apps. Who’s even paying for this?

I bought Tinder Platinum. It lets you see who likes you, send your likes to the top of the queue, get 10 superlikes, and 3 compliments (which lets you send a message along with your like),you get unlimited likes, and passport mode (which lets you use Tinder in different cities).

I still swiped selectively because it influences your ELO score. The way ELO works is that every profile gets a score and that determines who you see because tinder tries to match people with similar ELOs. If attractive women are constantly shown unattractive men, they’ll uninstall Tinder and download a competitor. And Tinder needs hot girls because that’s what attracts men and it’s mostly men that pay.

Everything starts with having pictures with sex appeal.

A hot guy profile is a profile that:

So we need to match those criteria to increase our ELO.

Results

I got 82 matches off of 500 likes which is about 16% match rate at $1,64 per match. Platinum gave me a 32% boost compared to normal but it really depends on how well your profile is performing on free.

If your profile is performing poorly, showing it to more girls will just crash your ELO faster. Subscriptions are a multiplier so any number times 0 is still 0.

Are prompts worth it?

Prompts/bios are more of a boost/multiplier. Your sexual market value (conveyed through your pics) matter most. If you turn her on, your prompts can boost your matches but only by a little. It’s more that having bad/no prompts/bio makes some girls move on, so by having that you don’t lose out on those.

That said, you can (and should) use your prompts or bio as a way to flesh out your archetype.

Conclusion

This experiment matches what I saw on Bumble and Hinge too. Subscriptions are an amplifier. If your profile already does well, they work, if it doesn’t, it won’t.

The best thing you can do is fix your profile first by having pictures with more sex appeal.
